After his death, he left a huge estate, which is now called La Martiniere in his memory. The school was instructed to be opened at three locations, which were Lucknow, Calcutta, and Lyon, which was Claude Martin’s birthplace. 

La Martiniere we see today was initially known as the Constantia, where Martin lived during his life. It is believed that Martin wanted to preserve his house after his death and wanted it to become a school or a college teaching young men more about the English language and Christianity if they were interested.

La Martiniere offers various courses and facilities to its students. The school teaches English, mathematics, civics, geography, principles of accounting, commercial studies, science, art and craft, woodwork, choral singing, Hindi, Sanskrit, and French language. 

The school also conducts classes for computer studies and physical education till 10th grade. 

The students are educated as per the standards of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) for tenth-grade examinations. Indian School Certificate(ICS) curriculum for the twelfth grade. 

While the academic facilities are top-notch, the sports facilities provided by the college are a cherry on top. There are two sports fields, one is called The  Polo and the other is known as The Fairy Dale Ground. The Polo is mainly a ground for football and athletics. Physical training is also shown here during the Annual Day functions. 

If you are wondering what is the purpose of The Fairy Dale Ground, here’s your answer – it is the ground which is used for playing sports like cricket and hockey. 

Overall, there are 10 football fields,8 hockey fields,2 basketball courts, 2 swimming pools, 2 cricket arenas, and a paddock. The school also has space for aviation enthusiasts. Sounds like a whole package for sports enthusiasts, right!?
